July has been a very full month for Brandon Van Den Eykel! He started off working for a week at Camp Wilderness, filling in as the Lead Commissioner. It was an amazing week with great weather and Van Den Eykel was very grateful to be back at the place that means so much to him.
Then he returned home to begin a month full of intense professional development! First Kodály Level Two, which lasted two weeks at Minnesota State University Moorhead. For those of you who many not be familiar with the Kodály concept, please Click Here for more information!
In short, the Kodály philosophy of music education is a sequential, child developmental program based on folk songs and art music. The concept is an experience-based approach to teaching that leads to literacy through the development of basic musical skills and musicianship by reading, writing and performing music.

Level Two was a continuation of what Brandon Van Den Eykel began studying last summer and was both a challenging and rewarding experience. Van Den Eykel went on to say, "I continue to be so inspired by the Kodály philosophy! My teaching, as well as my own musical understanding, has improved so much through the study of this amazing philosophy. I am already looking forward to level three next summer and earning my Kodály Graduate Certificate!"
